Just Add Ink #41 - Birthday

This week at Just Add Ink, the challenge is to Just Add....Birthday and I just couldn't resist this gorgeous retired set, Blooming With Happiness....I love it so much!
I have stamped the cake image on a piece of acetate with black Stazon, and then added a little bit of Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds. I cut out the circle and attached the acetate to the back of the front cover of the card. I like the effect of the little window!

Just Add Ink #27 Layout + Faux Metal Tutorial

The following sketch is this weeks Just Add Ink challenge.
I knew, straight away, when I saw this layout what I wanted to do! It was just a matter of doing it - which is so cool cos that normally NEVER happens!

I have used Basic Grey for the actual card and the Faux Metal technique for the squares.

Here's a quick run-down on how I made them:
1. Stamp a piece of card a bit bigger than what you want to end up with, with Versamark.
2. Sprinkle Silver Embossing Powder and heat. (I used tweezers on the outer edge so not to burn fingers - edge will be cut down later on).
3. Wait til cooled and stamp over the top with Versamark again.
4. Sprinkle Silver Embossing Powder and heat.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 two more times, so you have 4 layers all up.
6. While the last layer of Embossing Powder is still warm, press into it with your selected stamp.
7. Walah!!! Cut your piece down to the size you want to get a crisp edge.

8. I got the cracked look by putting the piece into the freezer for just a few minutes, and when cooled, I bent the cardstock in several spots and enjoyed the sound of it CRACKING!!

The ribbon is actually Whisper White Taffeta ribbon but as I wanted black ribbon, I used Basic Black ink pad and a Sponge Dauber and rubbed colour into it. I used sewing machine to sew a running stitch along the top edge of the ribbon and pulled and gathered it - not my favourite thing to do - must practise.

Just Add Ink Challenge #9 'Be Happy Notebook"

This weeks challenge over at Just Add Ink was a "Layout Challenge" using the above layout.
I have had this little Stampin' Up On Board Art 5x5 Journal ($13.50) for quite a while now and had already covered it in the Bella Bleu (16.95) DPS - but just couldn't get motivated to what to do next - until this week!
The rose/flower is my 1st attempt at this style using the Scallop Circle Punch ($30.95) and Bella Rose DPS. I'm quite happy with it!

Just Add Ink Challenge 5 'Thank You Love Box"

Just Add DIMENSION!
Stamp it, colour it, dye it, stick it on, stand it up - it's up to you!

I chose a nice little simple box to make this week and "aged" it by sponge daubing Whisper White around the edges to give it a "worn/loved" look. I really love the simplicity of it and absolutely love the colours; Textured Certainly Celery and Textured Lavendar Lace. I finally have put to use my Ribbon Bundle with the So Saffron ribbon and set it off with some cute little pink heart shaped chocolates!

Just Add Ink Challenge 2 "Love Card"

This week, Just Add Ink's challenge was "Just Add Hearts" - and I wanted to make something simple but elegant this time. I originally had Silver Embossed hearts, but I felt the Silver Embossing on Basic Black was more trickier to see, so I stuck with plain silver....tho, I of course could not make a card without embossing, so the sentiment is embossed with Basic Black ink and Clear Embossing power. Also, the hearts have drops of Crystal Effects on them to give them a bit of "touch & feel"!
