Just Add Ink #96

Hello!!! It's a VERY special week at Just Add Ink this week - it's "Just CASE Tania" week!  How exciting & special!  I'm honoured to be the very first Design Team member to feature in our new addition to our challenges!

The idea is to CASE or be inspired by something that I've made in the past - well, you can't exactly CASE something that I've made in the future, so good thing I typed "past" there hey?!

I had a very difficult time trying to decide what I'd CASE of myself, because most things I've made I've already wished I changed something here or there....but in the end I chose to CASE my very first Just Add Ink Design Team card!

I settled the colours down a tad, I think my colour-palette has changed somewhat since then!

1) Here I've used Pretty In Pink and Melon Mambo.

2) I've white embossed one of my all-time favourite stamp sets, (which I won at one of the Regionals I attended!) and used a sponge dauber to rub the ink over.

3) I then used a baby wipe to wipe over the top of the embossing to wipe off excess ink that had stuck to the embossing....and I think I was a little heavy handed with the baby wipe cos it kinda made the ink go a bit splotchy and dotty - but I decided that that was the look I was going for anyway!  ;)

4) Again, I followed Joanne Leddy's awesome photo tutorial on how to make this beautiful flower, (and thanks to a very special friend who posted me some punchies so I could make some as I still haven't got all the flower punches I desire!).  This flower is made with Whisper White cardstock, Silver Glimmer Mist and a SU bling-brad, well that's what I call them!

5) I've mounted the embossed cardstock on Basic Black and popped them up on SU Dimensionals.  I found some really lovely black sequined ribbon and added that.  And done!

Smile - You Make This World A Better Place

Trying to get a head start on some thank you cards I want to send....this is one I whipped up the other night and hadn't got around to photographing.
I accidently pressed a bit too hard on the embossed wisteria wonder, so it kinda flattened the raised dots, so I went with the flow and used my bone folder to flatten them all down - I liked it!

cardstock: pool party, wisteria wonder, whisper white
ink: pool party, daffodil delight, silver
stamps: SU build a blossom, Verve all about you
daffodil delight 1 1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon, silver ribbon/cord/string, dimensionals, crystal effects, perfect polka dots embossing folder, build a blossom punch

Just Add Ink #27 Layout + Faux Metal Tutorial

The following sketch is this weeks Just Add Ink challenge.
I knew, straight away, when I saw this layout what I wanted to do! It was just a matter of doing it - which is so cool cos that normally NEVER happens!

I have used Basic Grey for the actual card and the Faux Metal technique for the squares.

Here's a quick run-down on how I made them:
1. Stamp a piece of card a bit bigger than what you want to end up with, with Versamark.
2. Sprinkle Silver Embossing Powder and heat. (I used tweezers on the outer edge so not to burn fingers - edge will be cut down later on).
3. Wait til cooled and stamp over the top with Versamark again.
4. Sprinkle Silver Embossing Powder and heat.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 two more times, so you have 4 layers all up.
6. While the last layer of Embossing Powder is still warm, press into it with your selected stamp.
7. Walah!!! Cut your piece down to the size you want to get a crisp edge.

8. I got the cracked look by putting the piece into the freezer for just a few minutes, and when cooled, I bent the cardstock in several spots and enjoyed the sound of it CRACKING!!

The ribbon is actually Whisper White Taffeta ribbon but as I wanted black ribbon, I used Basic Black ink pad and a Sponge Dauber and rubbed colour into it. I used sewing machine to sew a running stitch along the top edge of the ribbon and pulled and gathered it - not my favourite thing to do - must practise.

Just Add Ink #26 - Embossing

It's my 1st "off-week" as Design Team at Just Add Ink,
but I couldn't resist a bit of embossing - pardon the pun! I call myself "The Embossing Queen" cos I rarely make a card without embossing something on it! Me and my heat tool are BFF's!!!

Using the branch from Thoughts & Prayers, I've stamped in Versamark then sprinkled White Embossing Powder and heated. When I had covered the area, I inked a sponge in Certainly Celery, Lavendar Lace and Baja Breeze (individually, of course) and started off softly rubbing the sponge in sections - the ink doesn't stick to the white embossed printing. I kept rubbing in circular motions until I got the look I wanted. I stamped Script background stamp over the top.
The tags are Tiny Tags done in Basic Black with Linen Thread. The card is Baja Breeze and the background mounting is Certainly Celery.
The ribbon is Certainly Celery.

Just Add Ink Challenge 4 'Happy Bday Rose Card"

Leaving myself the shortest time possible to produce this weeks Just Add Ink Colour Challenge, I managed to whip up this little bunch of flowers; my 1st round card!
I have used Crystal Effects on the round "Happy Birthday" to give it a gloss and a few drips on the leaves, as well as Dazzling Diamonds on some.
WOOPS: Apologies but I forgot to add that I did case this card from Splitcoast from here as I mucked up and made the wrong item this week and ran out of time to get kickstart the brain into this faboulous card-challenge mode.

Inkspirations Inspirations Colour Challenge #15

I'm on a roll this week! Here's is my card for Makeesha
Byl's Inkspirations Inspirations Colour Challenge #15. We had to use the image to the right as "inspiration" and who doesn't love a bit of bling! It didnt come to me at first - then POP! it arrived in my head and off I went - merrily embossing away! Love my Hodgepodge!
