Just Add Ink #38

At Just Add Ink this week we have a "Just Add...Feminity" kind of challenge remembering October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

- I started with a piece of Regal Rose cardstock and White Embossed the Inspired By Nature stamp.
- I then rubbed all over it with a Sponge Dauber inked in White Craft Ink.
- Then I couldn't resist....I crumpled it up into a ball to give it a worn, distressed look. (love it!)
- Next, I gently rubbed Regal Rose around edges with another Sponge Dauber. I like the effect - sort of "shadowy".

My Birthday

Last Friday was my Birthday - I turned 21. (again)!!!! I woke up to two presents, one from my lovely friend Naomi, who sent a package Express which I got the night before. In it was the chocs and an itunes voucher for my new iphone. Here's Charlotte not long after we'd woken up - she was just way too excited to give me her present and her card! Charlotte went shopping with Nanny during the week and she chose some scissors for the kitchen, cos she know how frustrated I was everytime I went to get my scissors and they weren't there!
After an Optomertrist appointment first thing in the morning, we shopped and I spoilt myself buying Wii Fit Plus - been wanting it for ages so now I have it! yay!

Charlotte and I enjoyed a lunch together - I had my favourite, Lasagna and salad - yummo!!!! Oh, mustn't forget the Pepsi-Max as well! I then had to go to a funeral so a wonderful friend offered to look after Charlotte for me. When I went back to pick her up, look what Rochelle had made for me!!!!!!! (a true Australian woman, I reckon!) Thank you Rochelle, you really made my day! My mum has given me a very cool lamp for my craft desk, but I'm undecided whether I will change for a different type of light, you will get to see what I end up with when I eventually take pics of my craft room - depending on what desk/bench I get!
My aunt Margaret brought these beautiful silk cushion covers back from Vietnam - I love them! I have 5 all up!!!!
And today, I received a couple of really beautiful hand-made cards from my wonderful friends from Just Add Ink. I will take some individual pics of them in the next few days.

I really feel special and loved and thank you to all those all made my day feel that little bit extra special!

Alice's Engagement Card

This card is long over-due. My friends little sister got engaged a while ago and I've only just got around to making her a card.
I'm not happy with my photography. Just looks bleak and dreary. I can't seem to figure out how to get it right. I seem to get better lighting OUT of my photography-tent. Grr...

This is my "Danielle" bow. It's hard to show it in the photo being black and all. Danielle does the most amazing bows.

I coated the edges of this rose (after being made) with Crystal Effects. If gave it a beautiful gloss and also made it alot more stronger and firmer.

I couldn't resist "tizzing" and spritzed it with black. Not sure of this card really......not sure it all "works". What do YOU think? Honestly?

Ella's 5th Birthday

My daughter, Charlotte, was invited to a Birthday Party today at a cool new mini-golf place that has just opened up here in the middle of the city of Launceston! What an AWESOME place! Cool graffiti all over the walls, a glow-in-the-dark couple of holes as well as a mirror maze and a jumping castle thingy. Oh, mustn't forget those nasty mirrors that make you look HUGE or short or tall etc! haha - the children had such a fun time (and I'll admit I did too!).

I chose to cut around the branch on this card and let it over hang the edge as well as letting some of the grass overhang as well. I'm happy with the result - my only wish is that I coloured her clothes in pink instead of orange (orange and me don't know each other very well)! I used inks and SU Blender Pen to colour.

The leaves have crystal effects on them as does some of the grass under the swing.

Just Add Ink #37 - Colour Challenge

Unfortunately, this week, I was in the need of another Sympathy Card, and seeing as I still had my mums "Elements Of Style" set, I thought I'd use it one more time (love it so much - must buy it for myself!).
Here are the colours for this week's Just Add Ink colour challenge:Not my favourite colours AT ALL!
I have used the Rose Red and Pumpkin Pie with my blender pen for the flowers and the Old Olive and Always Artichoke for the leaves.
I have used the new White Stazon on for the all-over stamping and it creates such an awesome effect on the Confetti White cardstock.

Chloe the cat decided to help me....and she did! She managed to walk through the Rose Red Ink Pad and do her own "stamping"!

Charlotte Singing Kasey Chambers

OMG how cute is this!!! I asked her to sing a bit of the song and she broke out into FULL song!!! If you know the real song you'll know it's almost spot on! So darn cute!!!!!

It's a Kasey Chambers song off her album "Kasey Chambers, Poppa Bill and the Little Hillbillie's"...I highly recommend! Awesome mums and kids album!! You can see that albums site here.

1st Big Boo-Boo's

Charlotte had not one, but two milestones this week!

#1. Her first "proper" grazed knee! She came inside to tell me, as proud as punch! (I could tell it was "real" cos she wasn't carrying on like a pork-chop!) she was genuinely proud of it! haha - she posed for a pic before we cleaned it up and popped a Dora bandaid on it!


2 days later.......


...in she comes again! OUCH!!!!!!
#2....a dent in the forehead! Complete with bonus gravel in it too!!!

(Mummy has learnt she doesn't handle this sort of thing very well....as I cleaned it up with some Dettol, my stomach was churning and I went all dizzy and faint!!! Poor thing - she was so brave though that she agreed to pose for a pic before we cleaned it up!) But everything feels better when we play a game on the 'puter!!!

Ah the joys of being a mum!

Just Add Ink #35 - Sympathy

I haven't stamped all week but somehow my desk is covered in stuff - how does that happen?! I'm in the process of getting a nice big L-shaped bench built for my craft room and I'm absolutely hanging out for that! It'll be so nice to be about to spread out a little more and hopefully still have room to put my new photography light box on it as well so I don't have keep moving it around the house to get it out of the way!

But here is my challenge for Just Add Ink #35 - a "Theme Challenge" - Sympathy. I made two in the end and the more I looked at them the more I couldn't decide which one I like better, so I'm adding pics of both!

I have only used Sponge Daubers to create this scene and I tore a piece of cardstock to make my "mountains" shape and fiddled for a long time with them. I like this type of card for a Sympathy card because it says to me "peace & tranquility" and I love the quote for a Sympathy card as well.stamps: occasional quotes (level 3 hostess set), pocket silhouettes
ink: certainly celery, garden green, wild wasabi, bashful blue, baja breeze, night of navy, chocolate chip
